I want to go to Greenwich and I want to go by boat from Westminster. Has someone done this trip?

How long it takes the boat to arrive at Greenwich?

Thanks,
Kanana

Hi Kanana,

I actually have done that trip. The boat ride is very nice and not very long (30 minutes maybe?). In Greenwich you can stop and see the clock that sets Greenwich Meridan Time. There are also lots and lots of book shops and other small stores to browse in. You can also find some good restaurants. There is a great Vietnamese Restaurant there although I can't remember the name of the place! Have fun!

If you haven't already done the trip I would advise doing it in a circuit. Take the boat from Waterloo pier, (opposite parliament and Big Ben Westminster), then once your done in Greenwich walk through the foot tunnel under the river coming out on Docklands and nr a DLR station. Take this to Tower Gateway. The tunnel is free to access. This way you get to see a big chunk of real LDN that gets missed off the touristy route as the Docklands Light Railway is a mono rail and all above ground unlike the tube - on the way back to Westminster you can jump off and visit the Tower of London/ Tower Bridge and St Pauls.

You can go as well on tube, I think you have to change once in Canary Wharf, but everything is indicated.
Is the cheapest way to go there!

Have fun!

I ended up in the tunnel once after a party--I had no idea it existed, so that was a very surreal experience. It got more surreal when I took the DLR to London Bridge. At the time, the trains were fully automated (they may be still) and I sat in the first carriage.

An experience not to be missed Big Grin

BTW, if the weather is lousy, I'd stick to the tube/DLR. But on a sunny day, the river views will be amazing.
