I've been hoping to make it to London for next weekend, but being the weekend after New Years, a lot of the popular places are booked up already, it looks like. I am browsing Hostelworld and it is a long, long, list of hostels I know nothing about. I am looking for someplace inexpensive with a kitchen (to save on meal costs), but some of the places I found (Globetrotter, London Backpackers) are so far out geographically, that I'm afraid any money I save will be spent on the tube getting to and from there everyday. Has anyone stayed in either of these places? Will I get fleeced on public transport costs? Any other hostels I should consider?

it doesnt have a kitchen but the St Christophers in Camden is awesome - 2 mins from tube station, bar below serving cheap food and does free breakfast. The location is awesome. I have stayed here several times and its great. I dont really know about any with kitchens though im sorry.
