Holds PhD in Packing |
We are familiar with motorhoming across Europe...it was a dream....but we've only ever stayed with family and one rubbish hotel in England. Does anyone know if you're allowed to park a caravan anywhere (more or less) in the UK, even somewhere close to London for lseeping overnight?

Just seen your post. Do you mean staying overnight free? You can't just pull up and stop where you like in the UK. Some motorway service areas allow overnight stops for a fairly small fee but personally I wouldn't recommend it. There are plenty of good campsites around but if you want to know what you're getting then maybe join one of the 2 excellent clubs, the Camping and Caravanning Club of Great Britain or the Caravan Club (many of their sites are open to non-members too). The former has a great site on the Thames at Chertsey (half hour train to London)open all year.
There are lots of good hotels too - cheap doesn't have to mean bad - but camping is certainly the more economical option for a family. It's all going to be expensive compared to New Zealand though! |
