I just got a call for some job interviews in London the first weekend of May.... so about a week and a half from now.
Does anyone know of cheap last minute airline tickets from Texas? DFW and Houston are good hubs so I'm hoping I'm in luck there.
Also does anyone know of good (non-partying) hostels or even a budget hotel? Since I'll be on two days of long group interviews I don't think being at the pub all night will be the best impression ever.
I'd like to stay close to Paddington train station as my interviews take place just across the street from the station.

Thanks

Clearly somebody with a very different idea of what "cheap" entails than I do.

Last time I was in London, I stayed at the Redland House Hotel, which fits the bill for cheap (a single with shared bath is only £35, including a great breakfast. Not hostel-cheap, but about as good as a private room gets, and the breakfast, IMO makes the premium worth it. It's also pretty close to Paddington - with our bags, we took a cab for maybe £3 or £4, but it's easily walkable, too.

It's a little damp, but that's typical for London, and it's clean.

Poking around on flights, looks like from Houston, there's nonstop flights on Continental for around $715. Both IAH and DFW have connections through Chicago or DC in the $690 range on BMI/United. Best nonstop from DFW is $780 on American. So whatever works for you, much of a muchness.

Thyanks for the great tip. Redland House looks perfect for wht I need. I think I paid nearly that much for a hostel in London once....or maybe it was just bad memories.

I've seen hostels in the £25 range, but not quite £35. Of course, the ones that make their real money off the bars are cheaper - can go as low as £6.50 - but also not really condusive to sleep or job interviews.

Well I 'll always pay a little more to enjoy my trips so I've never done the entirely super low via bar tab hostel. I think I paid 32 for hostel in an only girl room.
But for job interviews staying alone definitely has lots of benefits.

You could also check out the easyHotels although I am not sure the location is just right for you.
