Greetings from Fethiye, Turkey. On the 29th, I fly to London, but I really need to get to Rhine, Germany. Will anybody recommend a fast way to get from Heathrow to Stanstead? I need to transfer airports, but I need to have an idea of how long it'll take before I buy an onward ticket to Germany (I just know they're all cheaper from Stanstead)

If I have to do an overnight, does anybody have a recommendation on an affordable place to stay near the Stanstead airport?

Thanks
-@dam

The bus ride varies between 1h20 and 1h40 depending on when you're going...see nationalexpress.co.uk for details. The only other option I know of (tube to Liverpool Street, Stansted Express to the airport), takes about the same, but is a good option if you have a long layover, since you can then spend it in the city instead of only seeing the airport.

(btw, it's "Stansted" not "Stanstead")

There aren't any hostels at or near Stansted, but you could either

(a) sleep at the airport. You'd have good company, get there by 11 to have somewhere to sit
(b) find a bed/breakfast nearby - BnA has several listed
(c) stay in London overnight and catch the bus or train up the next morning

I'm very pedantic. Just for future clarity, Eurostar has moved not to St Pancreas station, but St Pancras. This is a public information message.
