Question about Britain:
Arriving by Ferry to Plymouth, then need to get to Derbyshire...how far is this in real time(as opposed to in my fantasy?!) Any suggestions for sights in between? Best way to go is by bus, correct?

Try looking at www.nationalexpress.com and then just punch in when and where you want to go and it will tell you how long it will take...

You might want to consider the Train as well, but that will be more expensive.

Well it depends where in Derbyshire you want to go - it's a fair size county in all!!! For example you can go from Plymouth to Derby itself directly on the train which takes just over four hours. I'm not a bus fan so I would take that route however it would probably be more expensive than bus.

From Derby itself you should be able to get either a local train or bus to many places in Derbyshire - the Peak District is definately somewhere not to miss and there are many lovely Olde English villages around of varying historical interest.

I spend a lot of time in and travelling through Derbyshire as a whole so if you want to PM me about it then that's not a prob.

Oh yes, for train times etc see www.thetrainline.com.
Hope this helps some

Mel

Hi, Thanks for the replies.
Where I want to go to exactly is http://www.taracentre.org.uk
It is called the Tara Buddhist Meditation College/Retreat Centre, and it is in Etwall, Derbyshire. I have a volunteer job there for a few weeks.
Basically, I know nothing whatsoever about the area-but I've got some time to look around there before heading to London for flight several weeks later. I would be there in July. I'm particularly interested in art, literature, holy places, and just having a peaceful respite before the next part of my RTW.
Also I am interested in what the weather will be like.
Thanks!!!gigirtw

I looked at the Website that you have posted about and the nearest Bus Station is Derby...

So I punched in Plymouth to Derby into the National Express Website and it will take you about 7 and a half hours and for a single will cost £45 and a return is £50.

So you might find it's better to get the Train...it'll certainly take less time to get there.

But basically you need to go from Plymouth to Derby and then catch local transport or a Cab from Derby to the Centre.

Hope this helps!!

Perfect, Dreamer...
Actually I think I will take a bus-the extra time won't bother me, and the train costs twice as much!
Any suggestions of places to stop along the way?
