Holds PhD in Packing |
We are planning a two month trip round England/north Wales/Scotland (see the Castle Near London thread for details if you like - sorry for threadjacking!)
Our initial plans were to go in July/August to hopefully avoid too much rain. But, other factors mean it might be better to go earlier (so we can volunteer at an orphanage in Romania before arriving in Poland in September for the academic year). The question is: what's the weather like in April/May/June, bearing in mind there'll be ten of us crammed in a caravan? Would you go then or would you wait till *real summer*? |

Unfortunately its the luck of the draw - the weather in the UK is completely unpredictable hence the reason we all have an unhealthy obsession with it. Taking everything into account then July and August should be better (hotter, sunnier and less rain) than April,May and June.
However last year June was a scorcher and July was a complete wash-out (until the last few days). August was ok but nothing special whereas April was surprisingly warm. The year before June was a wash-out and July was the best month of the year. This year March and April have been beautiful. Best to cross your fingers, pack your rain coats and sunglasses, have a few back-up plans and enjoy yourself no matter what the weather sends your way. At least you don't have to put up with it all the time!! |

Knows What a Schengen Visa Is |
Last three weeks of the is years 'rainy season' have been warmer than morocco. Then its rain for three days solid.
Dont plan a trip here around the weather as you'll only be disapointed, pack for both and play by ear. |

yeah please dont plan around the weather - also bear in mind that in july and august all the kids are on holiday too and especially in the tourist hot spots it will be crammed full of people. You cant move in my home town for kids, old people and foreign students at this time - us locals tend to go into hibernation then.
April, May and June are better and usually the weather is ok - admittably april this year has been great and the first 10 days of may have been terrible - but i would say risk it and come when the crowds are fewer and things are cheaper. Mich |
