Hello, I'm currently in the UK outside manchester. I really like it here and I want to get a working holidaymaker visa so i can stay and work here for about a year or so. I was wondering if anyone has gone through this process before and if so could you help put me on the right track. I did a search on google and so far haven't found anything clear cut and easy. I'm a 22 year old American. CHEERS!

As far as I'm aware as an American there isnt a WHV programme in place for you guys (same as I cant get one for the US easily). You'd need to be offered emplyment and teh company prove taht they couldnt employ anyone English to do your job. basically its about jobs in highly skilled and shortage areas.

Check out BUNAC, especially if you're a student; they have some work exchange sorts of programmes you can try for. Are you a student by any chance? If you're finishing a postgraduate degree in the UK there's another scheme you can apply for, but otherwise yeah, it's pretty much the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme. That or the grad scheme will both take about $800 for the application, btw.
