Help I am planning 15-days holidays in London. Where do you think should I go? Which places to visit?

it really depends on what your interests are - there is so much to see and do - perhaps have a look at the London Logue for starters.

Gosh where do you start?
Covent Garden is a must and China Town, London Planetarium, Museum of Natural History,V&A Museum, Madam Tussauds,London Eye. Take a boat trip down the Thames or take an open air bus trip and work up an appetite for afternoon tea!Go to St Katharine Dock next to Tower of London or Little Venice for coffee shops/restaurants.Hyde Park and speakers corner.
Go to:-
www.visitlondon.com
Try this site for afternoon tea

Cheers!

There's lots to do and see just in London town. Several fantastic museums, starting with the British Museum.

Sights and open spaces, monuments, castles and buildings.

And the pubs! And diverse restaurants.

Head out to Stonehenge, Greenwich, Henry VIII's place, Canterbury, etc.

1) Hampstead Heath for some fresh air and fantastic views.

2) Columbia Road Flower Market on a Sunday morning for some proper cockney behaviour (and great photo opportunities)

3) and a night out in Farringdon or Shoreditch - where the locals go

my personal opinion... DON'T spend 15 days in London. there's so much else to see and do within affordable striking distance.

after being there once, I honestly don't think I'd want to spend even 3 days in London itself unless I had about a $2,000/day spending budget.

The following article makes a good argument for making a trip away from London a part of your London itenerary:

I've spent a fair bit of time visiting London in the past two years. I found plenty of things to do and most were free of charge.

The Tower of London - a must see, even if it is expensive.

The London Eye - I didn't get on it (scared of heights), but it looks great.

The National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery - both free.

Hyde Park and Kensington Palace. It's not worth the tour inside, but it's nice from the outside and the park is great.

Hang out in Piccadilly Circus. Just watching the city go around.

Take in some shows. Expensive, but get tickets half price.

Walk along the Thames, from the Tower up to Westminster. It's really an amazing walk. I particuarly enjoy it at night.

St. James Park, near Buckingham Palace, is a great place to walk and enjoy the sights. Great view of the Palace.

Those are just some suggestions. There are a million things to do in that city.

I just read that article. I think the guy's an idiot.

I spent 3 months in London and I couldn't pack in all the cool stuff I wanted to do. I think 15 days actually IN London would be an awesome and decadent trip.

Other recommended spots:

British Museum - I am a history nut and they have the Rosetta stone and an original Guttenberg Bible. Also if you are into history do the Westminster Abbey tour. Top notch, along with the Tower of London. The Beefeaters seem to be chosen for their ability to be funny.
Camden market
Portobello market
Hyde Park

My fav restaurant: Khan's near Bayswater tube stop.

Grab a curry, wander late at night, experience the insanity that is the night bus system, go be a groundling at the Globe Theatre, drink a lot of beer, have tea, eat scones and pasties, be amazed at the knowledge of cab drivers, etc.

Plenty to do. I wish I had 2 weeks to do it all again!

Different strokes for different folks. I spent 3 days in London and that was plenty for me. Friends just came back from 3 days there and can't wait to go back.

If you have never been to London, go to:

the tower - take the tour
Westminster
Take a boat ride
Go to Greenwich - its funky
Watch the changing of the guards
Take a side trip to York, Bath, etc.
The Globe
Skip the touristy dungeons etc.
Go to the parks - pack a lunch
The London Eye is okay
If you have kids - Lego Land will be a hit
See the mummies in the British Museum and the Rosetta stone
Pub crawl

Have fun!

Definitely St. Paul's. My favorite spot in the world.
One of the street markets. Portabello Road on Saturday, or Camden Lock on Sunday.
Covent Garden, and stop to listen to the student musicians always playing there.
Harrod's is a "must see" on a first visit -- especially the food halld.
For history, the Army Museum in Chelsea is an often overlooked gem. Great overview of the history of the British Empire.
Definitely take the boat trip to or from Greenwish to see London from the Thames.
Get out of the hotel in the a.m. and have a good English breakfast (inexpensively) at any of the many little cafes.
If you like to browse for books, hit the Charing Cross area.

It really depends on your interests?

British Museum, Tate Modern, Victoria & Albert Museum are a must.

For something more local - Columbia Road market on sunday. Hampstead heath - make a trip to Spaniards Inn for a pint of decent ale.

Evenings - check out nightlife in shoreditch, head over to Faringdon for clubs.

Have fun! Theres so much to do and see in london. Try and get off tourist track and persuade an informed local to show you the 'real' london.

I cant help but whoheartedly agree with Photochick. Whoever wrote that article clearly didnt enjoy London, somepeople just wont but "a waste of time"? Only because the author was absolutely clueless first till last!

I wonder how much the autor actually got to see! He's right about choosing your accomodation carefully but if he's on about the hostel which I believe he is then its no duifferent for the rest of us who live (have lived0 in this City. There's a tube stop almost next to teh hostel taht will save taht 15 hour round trip.

So what shoudl you do in London? Well it depends what you like....Culture? History? Sport? Nightlife? Food? All its all here and more...and you know what..it DOESN'T have to cost an arm and a leg!

Lets look at the free stuff...

Tate Modern - Probably teh best modern art museum I've ever been to. Amongst the Worlds finest!

Britsh Museum - Give yourself a full day with adecent lunch breal if you wanna see even half the stuff in here!

National Gallery - Classic art and some of teh worlds finest!

Science Museum
National History Musem
Victoria nd Albert Museum

All world class....all free.

Take a walk around the London Eye, go up if you wish..head over Waterloo Bridge...see teh houses of Paliament...Go see Downing Street, Trafalagr Sqaure, Leicester Square, Picadilly Circus, Covent Garden, the outside of Buck Pal. Guess what...ALLL FREE

Drinking is soooo expensive right??? Think again. If you wanna go cheap side, grab some beers from the supermarket. Can work out les sthan 50p per can. try a weathegrsppons if you wanna go out....they have seveakl drinks on special all day every day.

Food? Grab a meal deal from boots or some other supermarket. Get your sanger, crisps and a drink for less than £3. Or try the street stall or noodle places dotted around. £3-4 for a huge plate.

Oh and dont forget a nice Curry...go to Brick Lane for teh experience.

Catch a football match (yes THIS IS EXPENSIVE) but if you love sport, then its here, all over the place.

there's live music all over! Check the local listings...Bands or Comedy for under £5.

Check out Camden if music is your thing..oh and visit the market! have a walk around Soho, see Chinatown, walk around Mayfair or take a walk along teh quiet Fitzrovia.

There is sooooo much to do and see and I've hardly scratched teh surface!

You can spend YEARS in London and not see all you want to and if you're here for a few days or a week or so then so many of the attractions are free you can get by spending very little (hostel costs aside).

Oh and before anyone else mentions it...yes, teher's so much more to England (and tehrest of theUK) than London and its worth seeing but London has enough to keep almost ANYONE interested for longer than 5 days!

I've hardly spent any time at all in London, but I've got to say that the boat ride down the Thames was well worth it, and I also enjoyed Covent Garden. Also, I found that when travelling on the underground, the Oyster Card pass saved me a lot of money.

Ok, here's another question. How about one special place in London to take someone special to? Let's say you had a date in London with someone that has never been there. And you really like taht person. Where would you take him/her?

When when I was in London my friends took me to this "secret" rooftop garden. I don't remember exactly where it was, on the top floor of a hotel or office building or something, but I could ask. It was like this quiet refuge in the middle of the city, it had flamingoes and everything.

To answer the dating question then either Primrose Hill or Hampstead Heath on a nice summer's day. Great view and really chilled (remember to take a picnic!)

I spent 6 months living in London, and two separate week long vacations there. Even though I've seen all of the "big" sites I still feel that I've just scratched the surface.

I'm so sure that I've got lots more to experience that I will be beginning and (hopefully) ending my upcoming rtw there.
