The hubby & I are planning to spend some time in Croatia this fall, and we're eyeing Trogir at the moment... But I have no idea how to pronounce it. After 5+ years of Italian, everything comes out with an Italian accent...
 Hints are appreciated... Thanks! |

If you speak Italian, I'll try to explain it like this: the accent is on the first part of the word and you pronounce it as you would pronounce it in Italian if it were spelled "Troghir" (meaning that "g" in Trogir is pronounced as in the word "go", the sound doesn't change because the "i" is after it).
I'm sure there are simpler ways to explain it  I just can't think of any now. |

 So, the "i" is like the Italian "i," then? Or like "ee" in English?

Sorry, I'm not sure what "ee" is in English... but yes, Croatian "i" is the same as Italian "i". Hope that helps
