Hello fellow travelers!

I searched the site, but couldn't find a good discussion of this. I am new to BootsnAll, so pardon me for any redundancy. Learning foreign tongues has never been easy for me. I took a great deal of German in high school and college, as well as a bit of French in college. In addition, my wife and friends have attended various community college language courses geared to visitors. I have also experimented with tapes and CDs.

I want to get more fluent with Italian and Spanish and, to that end, have investigated Rosetta Stone since their ads seem to be all over the place. I was wondering if anyone has had personal experience with this method over Berlitz or any other company. Ordinarily, I would just throw money at the situation, but they are so freaking expensive. I haven't been able to find these things for resale through Craigslist or my local used book store either for a reasonable price.

Is the system worth the money? Is it really the breakthrough formula that it claims to be? Experiences anyone?

Thanks, Brad

Now that my post has been moved to the correct location, it appears as if I have found my answer. Off to my local library to see what they have on hand.

Hi there,

The Linkword (google it) system is a great way of picking up vocab - it's the best way I've found to actually be able to remember new words.

Then something like the Pimsleur system is great as you can carry it with you on your mp3 player and look crazy as you talk to yourself on the bus Smile
