I'm thinking about doing a course in French over the summer holidays because I might be doing an internship in France, however I was wondering how long it would take me to have a descent grasp of the language. I did speak french a bit in highschool, but I haven't used it since. Would a 4 week course be enough to start with? Because I would be living in France for 5 months after the course, so I would get a lot of practice.

should be okay..

I'm going to do study abroad in Toulouse next year, and we have a three to six week (depending on your ability) intensive language program before the semester. All of the courses are in French with French students.. I'm a little nervous about falling behind, but everyone says people pick up the French within a month.

Thanks for the reply Smile. But I've just been offered a paid internship in America, so I think I'm gonna give that one a go.
