Hello,

I will be volunteering in Fall 08 and Spring 09 at Khayelitsha and was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations for a nice place to stay. I have heard the Gardens area is nice but there is no public transport nearby and I am a lil worried about driving there. So, someone reccomended a place called Maybray or something like that but said it wasnt the greates area to live in. Is there someplace where I can find nice accomodation (would love a nice apt), with a nice setting and public transport nearby that goes to Khayelitsha ? I guess I want the best of both worlds which may not be possible but if anyone has any ideas or specific apt buildings I would really appreciate it if you could let me know.

Also, does anyone know of a good tour company I could use to travel in South Africa on 3 day weekends and take a few weeks trip to Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe (to see Victoria Falls) with? Any help is truely appreciated.

You won't get to Tanzania/kenya or Uganda with 3 days! You might be able to pull off Victoria Falls - fly in and fly back out.

As for accomodation check out the Gum Tree or Craigs list. Another option is to stay in a Hostel for the first week or so and then you can go and see Apartments before comitting to anything.
