Hey,

I'm just starting planning my trip to South Africa for May-June 2008. I will need quite a lot of info. I started looking in guide books, but some info seem contradictory from one guidebook to the other. So, nothing is better than asking people who've been there!!!!
I will go with 3 other friends, 2 guys and another girl. We are planning to go for about 3 to 4 weeks. We're looking to go in may-june as the weather is better it seems, and less tourists in that period. I need a basic idea of how much money i need, budgetwise... Also, i've read many things about renting a car, not renting a car, taking the bus, not taking the bus... nobody seems to agree on transport. Please help me out!! Thank you very much!!!

Wow, that's a broad question!

Your budget will depend on how economical you are, and could be from R150 per day ($20) to just about as much as you want to spend.

Take a look at this page below for a rough idea of what things are costing here now.

your accommodation can range from R50 a night to R200 for backpackers and R300-???? for bed and breakfasts and hotels.

Personally I would recommend hiring your own car, but this is not for everyone.

This place does a good deal for younger people and students, but the mercs are a little heavy on juice.

Let me know if you have any more questions Smile
