Greetings Anne, I'm also looking for Max Maximun. Did you ever find him? What did you end up doing for your township tour? judge

I was in Jozie for 5 months and would highly recommend the Soweto tour. Mine was done by a local Soweto business and they opicked me up from the hotel in Sandton. I was the only person on the tour but they didnt seem to mind!

My husband and I are also planning to do a Soweto tour while we're in SA. Our good friend recommended Taste of AfricaHe says the owner is "kick ass" and "indescribably kind, generous, and knowledgeable" He's done the tour and stayed there 3 or 4 times now, so I think that's what we're planning to do.

The Ethical Travel Guide recommends Soweto Nights (www.sowetonights.co.uk) and TALK Tourism, which is offered by Phaphama Initiatives (www.phaphama.org). Both look interesting, haven't had any experience with them myself as we're not stopping in Johannesburg this time around.

Took one last year from my hotel in Sandton (Sun). THey send a minivan with a friendly driver. Fast and convenient. Had a good time in Soweto.
