Has anyone stayed at the Nyani Shangaan Cultural Village near Hoedspruit? Any views on whether it feels interesting and authentic and fun, or whether one feels like a stupid tourist spectator?

I have to make plans for one 24-hour stretch of time that's unaccounted for ... between spending 3 nights at a safari lodge in Timbavati and 3 nights with friends in Acornhoek. For some reason plans are not falling easily into place.

I had hoped to arrange a private, guided, hands-on, in-the-landscape tour of some portion of the Blyde River Canyon / Panorama Route, but so far that has not worked out.

Any recommendations of what would be the best use of 24 hours in this region? This is my first trip to S. Africa, I'm traveling with my 16-year-old and 11-year-old children.

Alternatively, has anyone stayed at the Phumulani Lodge -- I think closer to Hazyview than Hoedspruit? It's fair-trade certified, and I'm always interested in those options.
