Hello to all travellers out there, hoping you can help.
I work in PR and may be working with a company who is currently setting up a travellers site, but what I really want to know is what exactly do you guys want out of such a site?
I have not yet travelled, but will do one day, therefore I'm not going to pretend I know what useful information is needed. Yeh, I know the basics destination guides giving descriptions on towns/cities etc. but what other stuff do you need to know? Visa application details? As yet I haven't found a site that explains exactly what to do and what is needed - is it common knowledge or would this be useful for beginners? What about other stuff??

That is a good question. I would say that I want basic info. Like some of the stuff you said as well as really cool graphics and some flash technology to really wow me and show me what it looks like in that destination.
maybe some other things as well.

righto, basic things likeYou find in every guidebook as well as hints on hidden places / national parks / cool camps which You don't find in normal guidebooks. when I search for the right book I firstly look into the overnight section of the capital: if the YHA there is mentioned I jump to a lesser known place to seek for alternative accom. Then I check if every region of a country is "known", I had it in 1 german guide to Australia: they missed entire Peninsulas. Some guides to Egypt tell about Cairo and Luxor but mention the desert in only 1 sentence... These things.....

A good place to research is discussion boards like this. People ask interesting questions about things they can't find anywhere else.. like, can you cget a dhow from Mombassa to Zanzibar and safety issues, etc. good luck. Also, places to stay off the beaten path and in main cities.
