Does anyone have any information on making this trip other than by flying? We have a few days in which to travel so speed is not necessarily essential.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I asked a friend that does the overland trek from Jo'burg to Vic Falls and she suggested www.kumuka.com . She actually does that trip and told me it includes the Okavango Delta, then along the top of the Kali Hari Desert and Chobe National Park in Botswana.Takes about a week.
Don't know about the pricing though.Hope this helps!
Safe travels!

Some friends and I rented a car at the Jo'burg airport and simply drove through Botswana to Vic Falls. This does take a couple days, and parts of Botswana can feel tedious, but it's also an amazing way to see a huge swath of the country.

We stopped in Pretoria to pick up food, then headed west, entering Botswana at the Lobatse border crossing. (We found a campsite right on the Limpopo River that was fantastic). We headed northeast from the crossing to Francistown, then northwest until we reaced the Kazungula border post. Make sure you get some sort of multi country insurance before leaving the airport, by the way, as without this you'll be extorted for even more money than usual when crossing into Zim.

Unless you were planning on driving any further into Zimbabwe, one full tank of gas before you get into the country should be fine. I'm not sure how the gasoline situation is there now, but when we went (november 2002) you had to take your own gas in, lest you get stuck. But that could be irrelevant info, these days.
