They speak it in amny countries I know, but I have not seen much in the way of cheap schools offered online. ANy experiences/budget estimates for classes per week? I'm in SOuth America right now, and Spanish schools are everywhere. Is it really all that diferent in French Africa?

I'm not sure about schools or organizations teaching French in West Africa, but you can always find a young student willing to offer his or her services to help you learn French. I had a 19 year old guy who was an excellent teacher who came to the volunteer agency I was working for looking for help.
I paid him of course and helped him with his English, so it was a win-win situation for both of us.

If you ask around at one of the many volunteer organisations or your embassy in the particular West African country you going to, someone always knows someone who would be willing to teach. There are a lot of educated and talented people around with no work.
