If you are planning on climbing Kilimanjaro, or know someone who is please please please read this and help!

Last October myself and my boyfriend did a climb of Kilimanjaro. We took the Marangu route (the "easy" one) and it was absolutely spectacular!!

Unfortunately, a week after our last climb, we were mugged and our camera was stolen with all of our photographs of the climb and the summit on it (and the rest of the three week trip we did!!). As you can imagine we were devastated to have lost the kili pictures in particular. It took so long to save up for the trip and I doubt we'll be able to afford to return any time soon!!

We are desperate to try to find some of the other people who reached Uhuru Peak on the same night as us so that we could try to get copies of some of their photographs. I know some of them had virtually identical photos to us and some pictures with us on at the summit.

I was wondering if anybody out there who is planning the trip, or knows someone who is, would be willing to look at the log book for us at the fee office at the main gate to the National Park. You sign this book on your return to the park gate (even if you do not make the top) and the book is open for people to browse for previous climbers. It would just be a case of scanning back in the book to the 18 October 2005 to find out the names of the other people who made it to Uhuru Peak on this date (we summited at about 6am). We do know one group who we became friendly with who will have photographs that they would be willing to send us but unfortunately we only know there first names: Stu, Louise and Peter. If we had their surnames that would be a huge help (this will be written in the book), as we know which hotel they were staying in so could track them down from there. If there was any other information in the book - such as the tour company they used on the climb this would also help.

I have tried every other available avenue myself but to no avail. Unfortunately the tour company we used was actually based in Tanzania and they do not have email etc and have been unwilling to help. I have also tried contacting the National Park and they couldn't help. I know this is a bit of a long shot but I just keep thinking of how quickly my memory of the place is fading and to have just a few photos would be so nice (and some proof that we made it to the top for all those doubters out there!!)

Looking forward to hearing from anybody that could help.

J
