Hi, fellow travelers. Can anyone possibly give me a rough estimate of how much it might cost (airfare, hostels/ camping, food, the whole shebang) to travel to Tanzania or Botswana for 1-2 weeks. I would definitely like to do some sort of "safari" thing (but maybe avoid the pre-packaged thing?) as well as see cultural attractions. Also, I'd greatly appreciate any links to air fare quotes, etc. Thanks!

I am doing the planning for a trip to africa with a group of people. We happen to be doing a safari in Kenya and Tanzania and then going to Zanzibar. I quoted my friends $4k total. Thats airfare from the east coast though - it will probably cost you more. I included airfare, tour fee, local fees, personal spending, and predeparture spending (visas, vaccs, etc). I thought the 4k total was a pretty good deal.
