Dear all,

has anyone been on a Niger river trip in Mali?

I'm thinking about going on a pinasse from Mopti to Timbuktu in a couple of weeks when I'm in Mali.

I've heard this takes about 3 days and includes sleeping in villages by the riverside or just on the banks.

I'm pretty tight on time so - is it worth it? Is it possible to do it in less time - in a quicker boat or something like that?

Cheers

Been to Mopti and Segou, as well as Djenne, but not so far as Timbuktu. I'd say it would be a GREAT trip and would love to do it myself. We got to those cities from Bamako by SUV. Loved all three--Djenne especially. Mali is filled with friendly people. Enjoy!
