Flights from the US (DC at least at $1800). Thats unreasonable. Is there a somewhat easier way to travel in to Mauritania? Say from Dakar or a surrounding city?

Please-- any feedback os most welcome!

By far the best way to travel to Mauritania is overland, and I highly recommend overlanding from Morocco. Flights to Morocco are usually VERY cheap (last year my roundtrip to Marrakech was $850 and that's the most I've ever paid to Morocco), and from there, it's just a matter of taking buses down south until you get to the border. Crossing is *relatively* easy, and infinitely cheaper than trying to fly into Mauritania.

Best of luck, they're both beautiful countries!
