I'm going on a quick holiday in a couple of weeks, flying into Nairobi, but I want to get the hell out of there pretty quick so was looking at flights to Dar Es Salaam. Cheapest I could find was with Precision Air but was a bit freaked by the booking process. I've reserved a seat by email but then to confirm it I need to wire money to an account with Citibank. Is this normal for them?

precision air is fine. you can probably book it at the airport in nairobi. i flew them from zanzibar, so i just purchased tickets at their office there. have you checked the prices for kenya air? you can purchase flights online and nbo-dar is a regular route for them. they may be a little more than precision air, but just knowing that your money is actually going to kenya air might be worth it.

Precision Air is a code-share partner of Kenya Airways. You can book your flight on http://kenya-airways.com/home/.

Has your international ticket already been issued. Some carriers, KLM for example, have code-share agreements with Kenya Airways, as well, and an add-on to an international ticket would be a lot less expensive than a separate ticket.

What are your plans for Kenya? There are parts of Nairobi that are not safe, just like in any other big city, and others are perfectly ok. Did the media scare you with the reports on the violence after the election at the end of December? Did you know that they have reached a power-sharing agreement and it is SAFE to safari in Kenya? You can call me toll-free in the US/Canada: 877-466-6723. I'd be happy to put you in touch with people who were in Kenya during the worst days (until mid-January), and who would be very happy to put your mind at ease. They all reported that if it wasn't for the media, they would have never known anything was going on around them. (It was a political situation, and NOT directed at tourism.)

My next question, if not Kenya, WHY Dar es Salaam? Dar es Salaam is a port city, and very industrial. Let's strategize before you buy non-refundable airline tickets.

I flew with them in November- they only accepted cash so what you're saying seems to make sense.
