Does anyone over 50 have an idea for an overland tour company? I want to make my second trip to Africa (there this summer) but all of the tours state they are for ages from 18-35 or 45. I was on a 10 day hiking safari and paddled the Zambezi river for 6 days. Not your average senior. I'm not terested in Gap. I'm in it for the animals, the people and scenery and not the inside of the local bars. I don't even want to lay on a beach for 4 days. I am a teaching asst. and I think I have caught ADHD from the kids. Yes, I know it's not contagious! Any suggestions? I've googled a lot of them but only one( Africa-in-focus) wants anyone over 45.

There is another forum discussing the similar questions you asked and link:

Overland tour companies

I don't think age is a real problem (unless you want to go with Contiki, which is for 18 to 35 only). I was with G.A.P. and two members in our group just turned 50. In another GAP group we encountered, there is a couple who must be in their 60's or older. Not only GAP, I think Acarcia, Dragoman also accept someone 50 or older (and these are major players in African overland tour market). You can check their website to confirm that. Some do ask you to sign something or pass physical exam if you are 65 or older (not applicable to you).

Of course, most people who join overland tours are in their 20s. Sometimes you may find your group mates are very immature and annoying. But that happens to all types of group traveling. For me (and for these two 50-something in my group), it was a great experience with our overland tour.
