Hey guys,

What's the best country to go to if I want to go on an African photo safari?

By best I mean, prettiest, most animals, and safest.

Michael--I understand the nature of the question and as a fellow photographer/traveller I totally appreciate where you're coming from. As I haven't been, I don't feel overly qualified to answer...but I can share what I've learned through my readings gearing up for my upcoming trip.

As best I can gather--any country's wildlife national parks are excellent photography spots--full of plenty and varied wildlife photo opps as well as scenic landscape. The more appropriate question might be to ask WHEN is the best time to go to a given park.

If you're going for stictly wildlife--Kenya seems to have a heavy concentration of parks and wildlife with a strong infrastructure to accomodate both independent and guided safaris. For a blurb about the wildebeest migration and Masai Mara see http://www.africanencounter.com/de/ser.shtml

Hope that helps some.--eddie

I spent time in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, and it was amazing!!!! Lots of animal life and beautiful scenery. I have heard some great things about Tanzania and Kenya too.

When it comes to visiting during the "right" season, you'll probably want to go during the dry season. However, I read an article in a magazine on Zambian Airways about visiting the national parks in the rainy season almost giving you an all-access pass since there are very few tourists there at that time of year. Not to mention, prices are lower. Just something to consider!

Happy snaps!
