We (myself and my wife) spent time between 8.12.2006 and 8.1.2007 in Kenya, travelling independently using public transport. When preparing the trip I used information often gathered at this site - to repay this help I have put on the internet a rather detailed report on my experience.

Our route included Nairobi, Kakamega forest, Lake Bogoria NP, Lake Nakuru NP, Naivasha lake (incl. visit of the Hell's Gate NP and Crater Lake), Mt. Kenya NP trek (going up along the Chogoria route and down along the Sirimon route), Watamu (incl. visit of the Gede ruins, Mida Creek, and Arabuko-Sokoke NP), and Mombasa.

If interested, check it out at my site .

Happy travels to everyone.

Have a plan to go Tanzania to see the Ngorongoro crater and found your journey enlightening.

Not sure how the wife will go on the food.

So far so good.

Hi geok,

Thanks for reading my report and droping me these complimentary words.

Yep, better prepare your wife that Africa is practical application of the saying that "we eat to live and not live to eat". However, I remember that in Tanzania you can get a rather good snack consisting in fried potato (something like "french fries") with egg which is always prepared fresh - it made up about half of my diet there.

In Tanzania try to get to parks out of that bunch on the north around Arusha (like Gombe or Udzungwa). And if you stick to those around Arusha I strongly recommend visit of the Tarangire - it is enchanting landscape full of baobabs and not so packed.

Have a good trip.
