Does anyone have any recommendations for what to do about power in Tanzania? Ideally I will not need to recharge my camera batteries while I'm gone, but in case I do, I should buy an adaptor. Or a converter? Help help!

Thank you!

You'll need an adaptor, my adaptors have a built in converter.

my camera battery recharger will work on 110/220. so i just use a plug adapter. depending on your device you may or may not need a power converter. I just got back from China and Tibet and needed only a plug adapter. look on the back of your device to see if it lists 110v. and 220vor just 110v. you can also go to: (google list of power adapters and converters)

http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=power+adapters+africa&FORM=QBRE

or visit any travel shop for a listing of adapters and converters. Trinque

On a side note about electricity in Tanzania, for the next 3 months, there will be no electricity available during the day, as the government is rationing as much as possible because the rains never came this last year.

You can find articles about this on BBC World.

http://kropla.com/electric2.htm is a good site to keep in your favourites list to give you power requirements around the globe.
