Hi All... I'm narrowing my search down for my upcoming August Safari, thanks to a lot of info on here. Has anyone heard anything about/done business with African Pearl Safaris out of Uganda? They do Gorilla trekking, and I was curious if anyone knows anything about them. Their communication and prices have put them at the top of my list, but I have reservations as they only accept payment via wire transfers. I know this isn't that unusual... but would appreciate any info.

Don't know if you booked already. My wife and I travelled with African Pearl Safaris in January and loved it. I know the payment via wire transfer is a little off-putting (we said a small prayer when we wired our $900 deposit) - but in all honesty most companies in Africa work this way. The ones that don't are generally based in Europe/N. America and you end up paying more.

We did the 5 day Bwindi / Queen Elizabeth Park option and really loved Uganda! The actual gorilla trek is carried out by the Uganda Wildlife Service (guide and guards) - so the tour companies only responsibility is to arrange the bookings. QE park was really great - just don't expect to see the volume of wildlife that you can see in the Maasai Mara. Idi Amin and his army of poachers made sure of that.
