Wondering if anyone has any good recommends in Nairobi, for a place to stay where other travellers hang out.
Thanks

Nairobi Backpackers. It is run by an austrailian i think. He's really great. More importantly, it is right next door to Annie Oakleys. The best bar in all of east africa.

Stay away from the nairobi youth hostel. that place sucks.

Upper Hill Campsite. They have a few single and double rooms, a huge loft for $3 a night, and camping for $3 a night. Nice facilities, restaurant on site, within walking distance of the City Center. Great folks, too. I stayed there on three separate occasions, and have no complaints. Met tons of other travelers.

i second the rec on nairobi backpackers.. they will pick you up from the airport for a nominal fee as well. kind of helpful as circumnavigating can get kind of difficult if you are unfamiliar-- and its sort of far from the airport.

the owner is awesome.. i forget his name, but he takes guests on tours and stuff (cheap) and is a really sweet dude. the downtownish area is plenty close by walking and wont give you any trouble safety wise if you go during the day. i would avoid the tourist markets if at all posible. not the best place to be if you dont want to get hounded.
