does anyone know of an airline apart from Varig which offers an airpass? (my travelling companion does not qualify as he did not fly into Brasil with Varig)

are you sure about this?
last time I used an airpass here in
Brasil - about 5 years ago
I dont remember flying in on Varig...
I think it might be an idea to check this..

Brazil Air Passes must be purchased in the country in which you live/commence your trip. Although Varig has one for $450.--30 day time limit. You can purchase one from any of the airlines (about $400.) that fly to Brazil. You must know and not deviate the exact dates/flight#/time of dep/arvl, however. Your travel agent/tour operator can make all of the arrangements.
