Hi there:

I don't see many post about my country Argentina, and mainly my city, Buenos Aires.

Yesterday about 1,300 millons people watched on TV the Olimpic Torch being carried through Buenos Aires by many of our famous sportsmen/women.

It was possible not only see part of the city, but also that was the only city where protests again China because their actions in Tibet were made with full respect of the Olimpic organizacion.

BA was choosed because is the safest of the big latinamerican cities, and because in last years became in a "fashion" destination for many travelers.
This made many people to visit Argentina touristic websites, so our backbone were colapsed for near 2 hours!!

Being a safe place, with low prices, were Tango was born, where food is grate, BA is now a days a MUST place for many travelers.

I strongly reccomend to think in BA for your latin american trip.!!!

What about racism/terrrorism there?

No problem al all.
About racism, may be some isolated individual from a non educated class can say some ugly comment about black people, but this also includes our "black" people that are our indigen races from the north...
About terrorism, we had more than 10 years ago a terrorist act against the building of a jewish asociation. This was part of the global actions that some arabian countries were doing against judes because the war in Israel.
Now we just watch terrorist acts on TV.

Of course, as all big cities (BA have 13 millons peole) there are some crimes, pickpockets, etc. But with the normal preventions, bA is still one of the safest big cities.
