Hi All,
I really want to explore Argentina's Ruta 40 from El Calafate to as far south as it goes - and then on to Ushuaia. I don't want to do this portion on a tour bus at someone else's pace...rental car may be too expensive (but I haven't eliminated the possibility yet). I'm wondering if anyone knows or thinks it would be possible to hire a car and driver in El Calafate.

TIA
Will

How much money do you have to pay for this? Because I know someone who might do it for the right money.

How important is it that the driver be able to drive? Big Grin

But seriously. I am hoping to do this trip next Summer (southern hemishere summer), just probably won't have time to go as far as Ushuaia. I have to make sure that my 'co-conspirator' takes holidays at the right time (mental note to remember to remind X about next summer) and because X doesn't drive (generally - although he does have a license) I would not trust him with the wheel so am thinking that I will be the one in the driver's seat - unless another friend (Y) can also take the time off, in which case the driving could be shared between two of us.

I'm just thinking out loud on the keyboard here - making plans - don't mind me.

Please don't take ofense - but I am not inviting you because I don't know you from Adam (or Eve as may be the case). I will not have the problem of trying to find a vehicle as the friends I plan to go with have access to a 4WD in Patagonia. However, I do wish you well in your search for said vehicle with driver. If it works out then it will be an interesting trip. I am certainly looking forward to it.
