Knows What a Schengen Visa Is

Sol Caribe Campo and Mar Azul both have beaches. I´ve never stayed there but I have heard they´re not bad places. I know hotels that are in the comercial areas, Like Casablanca which has a summing pool and it´s right there in front of the ocean. About the Cocoplum, I´ve never visited this hotel, but in general, hotel accomodtion in San Andres is not bad. Specially if you´re spending one day.

Hi,

I read somewhere that with a few of the smaller hotels on the island you can`t book directly with them as they are now affiliated with Decameron?

Someone said you need to call Decameron and do it with them?

Any info on this?

Thank You, Faith

Hi Faith!

Last time I was in the Island, I spoke about this subject with the manager in Freshwater Bay Cabins. She told me that there was no problem. However, you guys will be travelling in the high season, so I don´t know what the plan is exactly with the Decameron and room availability. I´ll gladly ask the people there.

Faith,

I just spoke to Miss Imelda from Miss Mary's Cabins, and she gave me this phone number in Bogotá to contact Decameron and organize things with them: 57-1-328-0000. she tells me that in order to stay in the hotel, things have to be organized through decameron. If that is so, then I believe that things should be easier because as I understand, the plans from Decameron are being handled with Avianca (the largest colombian airline) so getting the plan through travel agency shouldn´t be hard.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Paul

That's great Paul, we'll call that number.

Our international flight to San Andres from Montreal is all taken care of. But I believe Decameron offers plans(hotel/air/breakfast) for the Providencia flight. We'll call.

I found tons of great pics od Providencia on Flickr. It's truly a paradise!

Your help is super.

Faith

Hi Paul,

Still no luck with lodging. We just got off the phone with a Decameron travel agent in Bogota. We were able to gather that San Andres is booked for the 20th & 26th of Dec. But there is availability for our 5 nights(21st-25th)on Providencia. Unfortunately we were cut off. The conversation was interesting as my husbands "Spanish" is not very good, lol.

We'll keep on trying!

Please tell me, is there anything I can do for you? I´ll try calling the hotel directly, and seeing if there´s any possibility of booking you guys. It would be you and your husband, and two kids ages 9 and 11 right? I'll call tonight when I get home. I really hope I can help you with this.

Paul,

That is very kind...
Yes, they are ages 9 & 11. Our dates on Providencia are Dec. 21 to Dec.25th, departing the 26th.
Maybe they could just offer further guidance. Please do not go out of your way too much.
I found a list of hotels, are you familiar with Hotel Deep Blue? Perhaps some are not affiliated with Decameron...

We'll not give up yet!

Your help is appreciated, Faith.

One question: do you already have tickets in and out of Providence Island?

Hi Paul,

No...we don't. When I was having trouble getting through for lodging I didn't go ahead. I've sent so many e-mails to so many different hotels as well as Providencias Tourist website etc. I first needed to determine a place to stay. I haven't had one response.

I guess there are high chances that those flights are fully booked now?

Thank You, Faith

Hey Faith!

57.1.616.5086. That is the phone number of the travel agency I trust the most in Bogotá. They have hooked me up so many times before, so I guess it's definately worth trying.

Faith, you can also email them at

ADRIANACHAVARRIO@aviatur.com.co

This is the email of Paola. Tell her you are contacting them recommended by Paul Jiménez. I'm calling her now to let her know you might be contacting them.

Hi Paul,

We were never able to get lodging. The travel agent did respond to my email eventually but was unable to get us a room.

We will try again!

Thank You for your help and information. We will use it for our next trip.

WE are going to Isla Boca Brava in Panama instead.

Thank You again, Faith

Hi Paul,

Panama was great, Isla Boca Brava a wonderful choice.

Looking at Providencia tenatively for the first week of March.

Hopefully it will be easirer to arrange lodging. Reading on Fodors and Thorntree of people having the same difficulties I had. Simply really difficult to book hotels because you have to do so in such a roundabout way through Decameron etc.

We'll get there somehow!

Faith
