hola, booties!

greetings from Buenos Aires. four months in to our rtw honeymoon and we are having a ball. We are in Argentina and really just adore it (wine tasting in Mendoza, hiking in Iguazu, and just got here to the bustle of BA). We have some questions for you smahhht people. Our good friends are coming to visit us for a week (poor them with their 8 day vacation) and want to go to Patagonia.

We have decided to spend the week in the Lakes District getting a taste of a couple places. We want to rent a car and drive in the Bariloche, El Bolson, and Villa la angostura area. We want a lot of jaw dropping nature, laid back life, some artsy, interesting people , etc. Have any of you guys been inthe area? What are some must sees and can-misses? WHere did you stay for cheap? what advice would you give us? We were also thinking of El Calafate and the glaciers, but know those are pretty far. My hubby and I can visit other places when they leave, but would like to see as much with them as we can. THanks so much for your help!

1. Don't miss the "Ruta de los siete lagos" from Bailoche to San Martin de los Andes by hire car.
2. Calafate etc is way to far from Bariloche area but El Bolson is worth visiting - good town, great food.
3. If you do the 7 lakes route and you have time think about continuing a little further north To Volcan Lanin and a short drive across the border to Pucon in Chile which is spectacular and you can climb the active volcano if you feel like it. Very nice scenery on that trip.
4. If you're up for hiking the mountains around bariloche are spectacular - recommend the frey-jacob route (1-3 days).
Have fun!
