hey guys,
one of our definite go-to spots is easter island...and considering the limitation and costly nature of flights there, we plan to spend a couple of weeks there. Ideally we would like to go during the festival in Feb.
so now we are trying to plan ahead on whether it will be 09 or 10....probably 10. anyone been to this big festival? anyone stayed longer than a couple of days? any guest houses or hotels you would recommend? been searching on a lot of sites for accommodation and have found that some places are already booked for 09.
any thought?
peace,
b

To be honest, 4 nights is generally enough in Easter Island. Two weeks - I think you'll get bored. There's no decent beaches or everything, and all the main sites can be seen in about 3 full days.

If you've lots of money check out the recently opened Explora hotel on Easter Island - Explora Rapa Nui it's called I believe - but it's not cheap!

We were only due to spend 3 nights on Rapa Nui & ended up there for 7 (and most of the people at our campsite were there for longer) - lovely chilled and relaxing place. Yes you can see the sights in 3 days, but if would be at speed.

We weren't there for the festival - but at the airport there were loads of b&b-type ladies waiting for your business. We ended up camping at Camping Mihinoa (also had rooms - but only 5) - very friend place (it was in the process of being built when we were there about 12 months ago) - the owners caught fish & cooked them for us on the bbq one night.

I believe it now has a website - http://www.mihinoa.com/es_english.php.
