Hello everybody:
Here are the last news about the new rules for the Inca Trail that will start on January 1st, 2001.
1) FEE: The price will increase from 17 US dollars to 50 US dollars, 25 for students with ID (i.e. ISIC).
2) NOT INDEPENDENT TREKKERS: The new rules don't allow to do the Inca Trail by yourself, you should do it with a tour.
3) TOUR OPERATORS: Only few ones got the authorization to organize tours for the Inca Trail.
4) PRICES: The prices increase a lot, the old 80 US dollars price won't be available anymore. The prices will start from 150 US dollars.
5) PORTERS: They will carry 20 Kg at most, and their salary and treatment will be better.
6) CAPACITY: Only 500 people per day will be allow to start the Inca Trail, so the people should book it in advance with an outfitter or tour operator.

All these new rules are for better maintance of the trail and the ruins along it, and for the safety of the tourists.

Happy trips.
