I realize that topics similar to this have been covered before, and I apologize for bringing it up again, but I just wanted to get the most up-to-date info possible before I leave.

I'll be in Peru for about 10 days at the end of July (the end of a longer trip) and would like to visit the Amazon from Puerto Maldonado. Our plan is to fly from Cusco to PM, then PM to Lima to finish our trip. When looking at Lan.com, I got fares of $220 on the Peruivan version, and $400 for the US version. Is it not possible for Americans to purchase from the Peruvian website (there was no option to enter an American credit card). In addition, should I just show up in Cusco and go to the airport/travel agency to buy tickets? Would I get the "American" or "Peruvian" rate if I did that? We would have a couple of days to wait if immediate flights are not available, but we are on a tight time schedule, unfortunately. Finally, is it best to reserve a lodge ahead of time or once you get there, and is it worth it to go just for 2 days, or is more needed?

UGH i tried for a while to get the peruvian rate. it's not possible. i even called them! i don't know about just showing up though.. we didn't want to risk that. good luck!
