Hi
Ill be in Natal tomo & will be traveling southwards along the coast to salavador, spending few days here & then traveling down to Rio. I only have 2 weeks left for this whole trip so it will be pit stops. Please can anyone recommend few good, quiet (less tourists please!) lovely places to stop off along all this coast? This is my first time to brazil so its all bit new to me! Thanks |

Hello. A lot of the places we visited did have tourists, but still, maybe our journal would be of some use to you while planning:

Ilheus, although a fairly big town, has loads of history and isn't totally on the beaten track.
Praia do Forte, north of Salvador is more popular with day trippers and resort lodgers, but outside of that is a small village with beautiful beaches and the Tamar project, dedicated to the conservation of marine turtles. Now what I think will be exactly what you are looking for is the Boipeba island. Gorgeous and still fairly untouched. You can access it from Valença, near Salvador. I don't understand if your're going by land all the way to Rio. If so, a few more reccomended stopovers: Conceição da Barra, specifically the village of Itaúnas. Fine grain sand, sand dunes, mangroves, no electricity... between december and march is the season marine turtles lay their eggs. Enjoy! |
