I have almost 7 weeks to travel in SA, Im flying into Rio and out of Santiago (RTW ticket) - would love to see both south and north of SA , any ideas for the best itinerary??! and shoule we do flights or buses.... thanks! Smile

Don't miss Ushuaia. But if you do, at least take a boat trip in southern Chile, it's amazing and different from anything else you'll see in SA.

You wouldn't like to miss Iguazu Falls. Buenos Aires is a great city. Going from Arg to Chile, I'd suggest doing it from Mendoza and pass through the Andes.
My favourite places between the eastern and western coast coast are Bolivia and Southern Peru. It's quite a big loop you'd have to do, but it's doable in 7 weeks, without rushing too much.
Busses are generally recommended. Cama (sleeper) busses are comfortable and inexpensive. If you travel on night busses you save time and money (on accommodation).
