hi all.

i'm planning a trip to Brazil and Argentina, leaving soonish
i've found a cheap return flight into brazil, but i plan to forfeit the return leg of the trip.. i plan then to travel via road through brazil to argentina, but by the time i arrive in Argentina the return part of the flight would have expired.

Question 1)
Will the Argentine authorities allow me into the country without an onward plane ticket?

Question 2)
I'm planning to buy my return ticket out of Buenos Aires, sometime next year. is it a lot cheaper to buy a Buenos Aires -LONDON single (or even a rtn) ticket in Buenos Aires? any tips on where to look? any ideas of pricing in March time?

any advise welcome!

thx

1 - technically yes you need a flight out of the country, in reality I doubt it would be a problem.

2 - A one way flight from Buenos Aires to London is almost always more expensive than a return flight. You're looking at £600+ - try British Airways or Iberia.

You should buy a one year valid open jaw ticket. American Airlines have good value tickets into Sao Paulo / Rio, and back from Buenos Aires. Otherwise try British Airways, delta, or united airlines.

Hope that's a help Smile

Is there an actual ticket called "open jaw"? Not sure how to find it on their web sites.

Not sure of the exact term, but open-ended ticket might be closer in phrasing. I can assure you that Argentina when I went back and forth a dozen times on my bike never cared, neither when I passed into the country on foot from Uruguay. They simply stamp your passport with the date of entry, and you make sure you leave before that day is up. As for the OW back, is it possible to salvage a piece of your Brazil ticket? It might be possible to negotiate a different return for some extra cash, but you'd have to be crafty since your return date is unknown. If the change fees aren't much, you might want to pick a date and opt for that.
