I am a solo traveler and I want some opinions on the reality of booking IN CUZCO. Seriously, the straight dirt.

Will I get in a group?

Will it be at all cheaper to wait this way, instead of booking now?

I know everyone says to book in advance, and I know the trip is about 3-hundy, but as this one person in the wet season, is it worth the risk???

See I didn't even bother to ask for tour company suggestions... that's so bush-league traveler. But if anyone DOES have one.... :-)

Well - yes, I think you'll be able to get into a group. What your options will be like, I can't say. If you have the time, then you can try this. If not, I'd book ahead. You may not be able to take off within a day or two and it will take you a bit of time to go thru the different agencies.

Still, in the rainy season, you should be in good shape. The trail is closed in February due to the rain, but it can get pretty serious in March. I got rained on for nearly 2 days, but it was still fantastic. Bring a parka.

$300 will cover the cost of the Inca Trail trip for sure, unless rates have risen sharply in the last 2 years, which they may just have.

They have, actually. I think there's a post somewhere around here that explained some reason why. But the cheapest I found was like $295 up til March, and $315 after that for 2006. They were typically running around $340-370 other places, though.
