Looking for a cheap and reasonably direct way to fly to Rio from La Paz. Don't want too many stopovers. Be grateful if anybody could make some suggestions.

You can take a bus from La Paz to Santa Cruz and fly out of there to Rio. Gol airways will do the trick: http://www.voegol.com.br/

Also, if you want to play around with cities (from Cusco you can bus it through Salar de Uyuni and then to La Paz, and overnight to Santa Cruz but you can also try different departure cities), check out Air Ninja to find other discount routes.

Get an airpass - called a hahn airpass or "All America Airpass". Fly La Paz to Sao Paulo (dirt cheap), then take a bus (about 5 hours I think) to Rio.

Hey! My husband and I are trying to do the reverse and when we put the info on kayak, the flights were 400 dollars and about 9 hrs with a layover through Taca airlines. We havent decided if we want to shellit out, but it migt be worth it since it is a big chunka land.
