Hi,
We' ll be flying into Sao Paulo in three weeks. Were going to isit friends in Rio to spend christmas/new years, but there not expecting us for the first week that we will be in Brazil.Does anybody have recommendations of a cheap place to stay in Sao Paulo, and a nice& affordable place to stay (between Sao Paulo and Rio) to chill out on the beach for a week or so?
I have one more question-we speak Spanish and English but NO Portugeese.Do you think we ll be able to communicate with people?Or should we take a crash course Portugeese.(Someone told me Brazilians don t realy like to be spoken to in Spanish)
Thanks a lot for any help!

This response may be too late for you. English and/or Spanish are understood by many Brasilians than one would think. Speak slowly and distinctly in either language and you should have no problem. It wouldn't hurt to have a small phrasebook in order to acquaint yourself going into any country with a language difference. It shows good manners, if you make an effort to the attempt, however.

Enjoy
