Hey travelers,
I am planning a multiple stop trip and need advice as to the best approach for purchasing airfare. I have read that Airtreks is the best option, and their rates seem fair, but I am a little skeptical.

I have costed out tickets point-to-point, and then compared with the mulitple stop Round-the-World ticket quoted by Airtreks, and they seem comparable... but limiting.
Is there any advantage to doing one process over the other?
Does anyone have personal experience with Airtreks tickets?
Do you feel well helped by their travel agents?

Any seasoned advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Alaina

Hey,

Well I have not booked a RTW ticket, but in less than 3 weeks (WOOHOO) I am going to Asia for one month. I decided to go with a certain air pass cause it seemed like a good deal and I priced out the point to point on various budget and non budget airlines, and multistop ticket just seemed like the best option. Also the travel agent did EVERYTHING for me. Now I am usually a proponent of doing it all myself, but the ticket actually required her to book everything, fill out the paperwork and get it all squared away (really earning her commission). She sat with me and we worked out this flight plan for over 2.5 hours and it was nice to have her going back and forth between screens instead of me.

Just to give you an idea I have 11 flights in 32 days! It is just comforting to know you have flights going and coming, also I wasn't so sure about the budget airlines in Asia so I am going on Cathay, which was also nice.

If you are booking a few flights, I'd say it isn't so much an issue how you book it, if you are trying to book a series of flights around the world over the course of some time, then my suggestion is to go with the agent...

But i'll let you know how it all turns out...

India, UAE, Africa next, follow me! I'm 24, why isn't 100 countries and 7 continents realistic in a lifetime...40 and 5 down...

That's a great question - because the term "RTW flight" can mean different things depending on where you're looking. I can only speak to what we offer here at BootsnAll, but we think it's a great deal.

If you go to our TripPlanner, you can plug in the trip you'd like to take and then get a quote for its price. The beauty of this is that it's not your typical "RTW" ticket - in that you don't have to keep going in the same direction, or even start and stop in the same place. When you book with us, what you get is a series of point-to-point tickets so you can adjust your trip to exactly how you'd like to travel. Our tickets would be more accurately described as multi-stop tickets.

How can we do this for such great prices? We work with consolidators and other organizations that can save you money because of the volume of purchases they're making (even though you're only making one!).

I hope that helps to answer your question; if you've got specific questions about our RTW tickets, you can call Dave in our customer service department at 1-866-549-7614 and he'll help you out.

Thanks for your personal input. It's comforting to hear that others have used and are confident in travel agents for purchasing multi-destination tickets.
I decided to go with Airtreks, and am excited for the destination chosen... I'll let you know how it goes!

I used Airtreks in 2001 for multi stop tickets and they were wonderful. I had to cut my travels a bit short and they even refunded a few non-refundable tickets.

That being said, if I were to do it again, I'd maybe book a few of my flights ahead of time but wing it with the flights as I go along for the majority of the trip. Being refunded for those tickets was very lucky (it was around 9/11 so there may have been more leniency at that time).

But all in all, I give a thumbsd up for Airtreks.

Happy planning!
