Hello,

Pardon me for asking this, but I just want to double check that it is safe to book my hostel on this site using the provided links. a similar format on Hostels.com. I just want to make sure that my payment and reservation actually get through to the respective hostel and I have no issues when I book in.

Cheers.

We have been assisting travelers book hostels since 2002 and yes, your reservation will get through to the hostel.

As for service fees, depends on the hostel etc. Hostelz - just like all other sites, charges fees to reserve hostel beds. As for service fees, that also depends on who holds the inventory. There are a lot of different services that are competing to hold the beds for reservations. Some have service fees of $2.00 or so, some don't. Some have availability, some don't.

More often than not, you'll find good availability on BnA's Hostels versus other services.

Could you clarify something for me on using Boots to book hostels? I did for a previous trip, and my confirmation email would generally read something along the lines of "$10 deposit recieved, $40 due on arrival." Upon arrival, the hotels insisted that they never recieved a deposit & that my total bill would be the entire $50.

Is this a fluke in the system, unique to where I was travelling, or are the deposits not quite deposits after all?
