To add a map:
1. Create a map template. This can be a particular country or the whole world.

2. Once you have created your map template, you may need to log out of your travelblog and then log back in in order to see it in your templates list. This is a bug we're aware of and trying to fix as we speak.

3. When you see your template in the list, click on the 'use' link. This will open your template and when you click on any point in the map, a window will pop up allowing you to name the destination and also provide a link to a website (eg: an article from your blog that talks about that location).

4. Click on any other point on the map and repeat the process. Now a line will join those two points. You can do this as many times as you wish on any map and come back and edit later if you want to add points.

Deleting maps:
To erase the maps you have to be logged in and click the 'all' link under the maps list. On the page that will open (Trip maps) you'll see a list of the maps you created. On the right-up corner of each map you have two links: 'edit' and 'delete'. Please use 'delete' to erase each map individually.

Let me know if you have more questions.

JessieLynn, we'll take a look at that map image error and let you know when we've fixed it.

I'm having problems as well. I was able to get as far as setting up a point on the map and then it wouldn't save.

I've tried both firefox and IE. I get this error message in IE:

Line: 141
Char: 4
Error:'x' is null or not an object
Code: 0
URL: http://blogs.bootsnall.com/Elil/?maps=1

Any help would be appreciated. I would really like to use this cool feautre. Thank you!

Hello, Hydro?

It's been a month and I haven't heard anything back yet. Still having the same exact problem. Any recommendations?

Hi Adam,

Sorry for the delayed response. Most probably it's that you've copy/pasted the description for a point on the map and the text had a line feed (\n) in it. This generated a javascript error which caused the map to not show.

It is a bug that we're now aware of and will fix. In the meantime, the text you add as descriptions, url for points on map should be stripped of special characters to avoid these javascript errors.

Hmm. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I haven't copied anything into description, just typed straight text.

The map shows, but I can't save any of the points to the map. Firefox just does nothing when I click the save button. When I try IE it gives the javascript error I listed above.

Are there any settings in either broswer that I should disable to get this functional?

Chris,

It works! Finally Smile Whatever you just did fixed it.

I actually had the same problem as Adam where it said "error" at the bottom when I tried saving a location on the map.

Next 'How do I...':

...delete my 'drafts' list? When the bog server appeared to be down, I tried several times to save my post and it did indeed get saved every time--as a draft. So now I have one published and edited version and six superfluous drafts.

At the bottom of each draft entry page there is a 'delete this entry' button. Each one will have to be done individually, unfortunately.
