The BootsnAll travelblog system has been around for awhile and we think you'll agree it's sorely in need of some upgrades. We're about to take some first steps in that direction. We're upgrading our version of WordPress (the blogging platform our blogs are based on) to the latest and slightly different software. This new platform will make it easier for us to add new features and give more control of your blog to you.

The initial step is moving your current blog over. We've done enough testing that this should be a seamless process and you should barely notice a blip. Of course, now that we've said that it could all come crashing down

We'll be making the switch later this evening (Tuesday, Feb 12th). You'll know when we've made the change when you're asked for a username to log in to your blog. This username will be your email address (the one you used to register this blog).

We will be briefly locking you out of your blog to ensure you don't add any more posts while we make the change. Rest assured all of your posts and images are safely backed up in multiple locations so there is no chance we'll lose anything.

If you have any questions, just give us a shout and we'll answer them best we can.

Will our static front pages be reinstated or should I redo mine?

Do you mean the text that would have been under 'What my blog is about' at the top of your blog home page?

Ok, cool. Just wanted to be sure we were talking about the same thing. That was a bug and it has now been fixed. You should see your photo and text on your blog.

so there are a gazillion boots blogs and only mine is having trouble???????? In my sidebar I have a link to my sponsors' page....usually their logos are there (on the sidebar) and take you off on a cyberspace walk to their cyberplaces.....is it another bug or do I need to rewrite them?

No, many BnA blogs were experiencing the same issue.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean about your sponsors in the sidebar. You can manage the links that appear in the sidebar under the 'blogroll' tab of your blog admin. In general, images are not including on those links. If you had previously added an image to that link you will need to add it again.

Thanks Hydro - I had added links and logos so I'll go back and add them again.
One more wee problem making my heart sink....NONE of my page links are working. I have got hours and hours of info hiding in there (and no back-up)....please tell me they will be reinstated.

My blog had a setting where the number of posts available on the first page was maxed out (something like 200). It appears now it only has a few posts on the main page.

I'd like my settings to return to how I had them, where when you go to my main page (blogs.bootsnall.com/snarkyinla) all my posts are listed on the one page.

How do I do that?

Go to your 'Options' page, then click on the 'Reading' sub-menu link. Under 'Blog pages' you can choose how many posts you want to display on the home page.

Please note that the more you display on the home page the slower your blog may load for visitors.

Hey hydro, my "pages" are not working. How do I fix?

Ah now the pages are working but none of the inserted pics - do I have to go back and put them all back in (there are hundreds!)??

We should be able to find them and put them all back. I'll let you know when we get it sorted out.

Little issue I've been having since the upgrade....

I can't get space between the lines in my blog. Sometimes it works, sometimes it comes out in big clumps. Today I got half of my blog done ok, the rest is a bit cluttered. I can get it to go down a line, but no space between paragraphs. Any ideas?

I have turned off the visual editor on your profile. This will make it easy to see where the paragraphs are going. You'll see a little more of the code that goes into making your entries, but I think it's an easier way to do it anyway. If you don't like it, you can always turn it on via your profile page.
