I've decided to get my own website up and running. I'm trying to export my blog to Quick Blog (GoDaddy's blogging software) and I'm having some trouble.

They ask for:
Server/Hostname:
Database:
Username:
Password:
Table Prefix:

...most of which comes from my end of things, but I just came seem to figure out how to respond to Database. I've tried several configurations of my blog url, but can't get it working.

What should I put there?
And...anything else I should know?
Help appreciated.

Hi Liz,

The information you're asking for is usually when you're moving from a site you host somewhere else (as opposed to us hosting your site) at a provider where you have your own database settings.

Unfortunately, we can't give out the database connection information for security purposes. I'll see if we have another way to export the data, but I don't know if there is at this time. I am personally unfamiliar with Quick Blog software, and it may be custom built for GoDaddy so it doesn't leave us with many options.

Well...I can go a generic RSS feed, which means it won't put on my comments....but oh well.

BUT...I tried to do this and it only gave me entries back to September 2006.
Also, lots of pictures didn't appear.

So...???
Any help?
Obviously, I'm not too good at this kind of stuff...but I'm trying.

We can export your entries for sure. There is a way. - I think your blog was on the old system as well...so it'll take us a bit to dig that up.

We will have a private blog hosting solution based on this same WordPress stuff you have now before summer if you can wait. If not, Godaddy will definately work.

Thanks for the help....don't mean to be a pain. I've already got godaddy, so I can't wait till summer. I didn't realize this would be such a project though.

I'm definitely on the old sysytem. My entries go back to Feb 2005.

I really appreciate the help. I'm eager to get my site up and running before I head to Korea.
