Someone just commented about an entry in my 'African Journal' category that contains posts about my 1984 trans-Africa trip.
This served as a reminder that my blog has quite a lot of old travel journals in it by now, and I would like to back up the contents if at all possible. The machine on which they were written (and indeed the backup floppies!) have long since been consigned to the hardware scrapheap, plus there was a fair amount of blogging on the road. I tried some sort of 'WebGet' program with hilarious results (apparently I set it to back up all the pages I linked to, which is a bit over the top, although it would be nice to have the photos, and I ended up with thousands of files in folders within folders within folders...). The idea to subscribe to my own RSS feeds is a good one, but until I got my Asus EeeP I haven't used a mail reader since college days, and that would only work for new entries, wouldn't it? Has anyone got any ideas/tried anything? |

To answer my own question: yes you can (or at least our computer science lecturer mate can), via wget. It works fine from the Linux command line. Here's a link for the geeks among you
A version for Windows is also available (Google it). |
